White tailed black cockatoo
A white tailed black cockatoo feasting on a firewood banksia cone whilst sitting on my bull banksia in Winter
I counted about 20 of them going through my trees, pruning as they went.
I picked up some banksia flowers they snipped off and put them in a vase
They do a a fair amount of damage, but gee it is worth it just to watch them 🙂
Pink rose
this is the only rose I own
I am not a rose person and find them over rated as flowers
this one survived by accident (my sister took the others)
I thought it had died
then a shoot started from really low down and when it flowered this is the result
I am guessing it is from the original root stock
so for now it is surviving with no looking after (a requirement for plants in my garden, the other is they should be native, local preferably)
quite a cute rose really, understated rather than showy
taken using my 300mm lens as a macro
Galah
Eolophus roseicapilla, also known as the Rose-breasted Cockatoo or more commonly a pink and grey galah, in my acacia tree (Acacia saligna) in my back yard.
They seem to like the green seed pods, before the seeds mature.
